Method Comparison

The two methods did not align, as expected, for this renewed moon cycle.

Archived Report

The first report for the 1st new moon of the year came from the region of Darwin & Perth, Australia on Friday evening, April 8th followed by Colombo, Sri Lanka and points westward. Israel-based observers; however, had several reports of haze in the region making it too difficult for any visual confirmation (Nehemia Gordon and the Israeli New Moon Society). Therefore, those that follow an Israel restricted method will delay their month until the following evening, April 9th, by default. There were confirmed sightings, though, the following evening.

NOTE: Sightings are presented based on eyewitness reports without regard to their personal beliefs or affiliations. Steps are taken to help assure reports are accurate and truthful.
